According to Williams, the finished product
is superior to marble or stone. “It’s completely
non-porous; in fact, it is approved for use in
commercial kitchens where natural stone is not
allowed. Also, there are no radon emissions, and
no toxic fumes or dust in the installation
process. Although only about one-eighth of an
inch thick, the finished surfaces are three times
stronger than the average concrete driveway, at
over 12,000 psi. You can pound on it with a
hammer and not break it.”
An average kitchen countertop takes about
two and a half days to complete, with no demolition,
Williams said. “We clean the existing surface
and apply multiple coats of Granicrete’s
revolutionary concrete mixture. When that is
complete, we start the coloring process to create
the custom look that the client has chosen.
Finally, we finish it with our crystaltop epoxy,
and that’s it. It’s a completely customized surface.”
