“Polo is so important in our area, and
now with this pavilion and kitchen, and
wonderful new field, we have one of the
premiere polo facilities in the Southeast,”
said Lorna Huey, project designer.
Chip Campbell of Clearwater Polo noted
that while all of the polo fields in Point
Clear are privately owned, they are used by
the area’s polo players for practices and
matches as well as for numerous charitable
events that historically have raised significant
money for regional beneficiaries.
Locally, polo season is April-June,
September, and October. In season, players
hold practice matches during the week and
play on Saturdays at 10am and Sundays at
3pm. Most matches are open for spectators
to watch, free of charge.
And unlike the famous scene in Pretty
Woman, most polo matches in Point Clear
are casual affairs. “There is a formal element

time, the players and the spectators are in
jeans, and people picnic off the tailgate of
their trucks.”
Of course now, with the new outdoor
kitchen from Great Kitchens, dining at the
polo field will be cranked up a notch on
special occasions. “The design was driven
by function, but the goal was to give
everyone a comfortable environment in
which to view polo, dine, and be entertained,”
noted Chapman. “Chefs will have
everything they need, right at their fingertips.”
