Lisa Hicks’ work represents a culmination of her many years of experience
in design, décor, architecture, and fashion, and her love of art.
An Alabama native who moved to the Los Angeles area as a teen,
Lisa’s work experiences began with a job in fashion retail in Beverly Hills,
which she called a “real eye-opening experience” for a little girl from
Tuscaloosa. Over the years, she has worked with Macy’s in New York and
continued her education with study of theatrical set design at Parson’s
School of Design and at Performance Works, both in New York City.
She continued to build a career in retail and fashion, working in carpet,
flooring and lighting, becoming a certified lighting consultant. For a few
years, she traveled the country with a sales job in publishing, taking every
opportunity to visit art galleries, museums, and high-end resorts to study
fine design and décor. “These were my research years. They give me a
wealth of perspectives to draw from,” she said.
Lisa started her own business, L Pearson Designs, in 1996. “I feel
blessed that each project that I have chosen has challenged me to a different
level, and I approach my work with an artistic expression and classical
blending of different periods of interior fashions. I have always been passionate
about form and design and interacting with my clients, taking bits
and pieces of their vision and turning that into a reality that surpasses our
imagination. It is very exciting and rewarding to see a project develop.”
Lisa said the challenge of doing good design and having clients truly
represented is most rewarding. “After all, it is their home, and at the end of
